Federation of Malaysia is located in South-East Asia, almost on the equator. The country consists of two parts: West Malaysia and East Malaysia. West Malaysia is located in the south of the Malay Peninsula and is bordered by Thailand to the north and Singapore in the south. East Malaysia is located in northern Borneo or Kalimantan, as Indonesians prefer to call it. One third of Borneo belongs to East Malaysia, which divides it from north to Brunei and to the south and east - with Indonesia. East Malaysia is divided into two historical regions - Sabah and Sarawak. Eastern and western parts of the country are divided by nearly 600 kilometers of space in the South China Sea. The total area of ​​the country amounts to almost 330,000 square miles, though 63 percent of the territory occupied by the jungle. Malaysia belongs to the 1,007 islands, 38 of which have been declared marine reserves. The largest islands are Langkawi, Penang, Tioman.

The structure of Malaysia consists of 13 states and 2 federal territories - the capital Kuala Lumpur and the island of Labuan. Nine states are ruled by sultans, each of them for five years becomes the King of Malaysia. The country's capital is the city of Kuala Lumpur, with a population of 1.3 million people. Other large cities: Ipoh, Johor Bahru, Georgetown.
